Shallaki (Boswellia serrata) is arguably the most clinically supported herbal anti-inflammatory for joint conditions. Its active compounds — boswellic acids, particularly AKBA (acetyl-11-keto-β-boswellic acid) — specifically inhibit the 5-LOX enzyme, blocking the leukotriene pathway of inflammation without the side effects of NSAIDs.
Multiple double-blind, placebo-controlled trials have demonstrated significant reduction in knee pain, swelling, and stiffness in osteoarthritis patients taking Boswellia extract.
